ALC Assistant Principal
Hello and thank you for visiting our web page explaining how Bridges ALC can work with you and your student to positively progress towards their Prior Lake High School diploma!
Since the start of our program in 2009, the staff here at Bridges is committed to working with your student to provide a quality educational experience that both offers positive involvement with school as well as progressing successfully towards graduation. Since 2009, we have effectively worked with hundreds of students and families to get back on track towards graduation and earn their PLHS diploma.
Bridges is a second high school in the district that has an alternate approach to secondary education. Some of these approaches include a small setting (around 100 total students) with class sizes averaging approximately 17 students per class. This allows for a greater opportunity for our teachers to connect with students and see how best to work with them in their learning. It also allows our teachers to make sure they are working with all of the students successfully. Our staff is the key to our success as they all have expertise and experience connecting with each of their learners in a positive and encouraging way. When students feel good about school and their education they become more engaged and have more positive results.
We offer a variety of support for our students beyond the classroom that includes support by a social worker, licensed alcohol and drug counselor, a licensed school counselor for transcript and post-graduation support, as well as a therapist.
At Bridges, there is a great deal of flexibility to our students customizing their schedules that can include work-release, where they receive credits for on-the-job training, online classes, independent study, hybrid courses, as well as traditional classes, potential late start and early release. Students are graded on what they accomplish during the school day with little to no homework required.
Our mission is to help our students positively progress towards earning their PLHS diploma leading to gainful employment and/or post-secondary education. My administrative degree and Masters in educational leadership is from the U of M – Twin Cities. I have worked at Bridges since we have opened to support our students and am very proud to have been part of this growing program since 2009! I am honored to lead a school with such a great staff and student body that provides options for families and alternate avenues of high school success. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your student or address any questions!
