Flex Summer Independent Study Quick Reference Guide

Both the online registration and form are required for a complete registration. A final letter will be mailed/emailed prior to summer independent study starting to confirm registration.
Dates & Location: Thurs, June 30 – Friday, August 19 @ Bridges ALC. Times scheduled based on teacher availability.
Times and Attendance: Students must register a minimum of 10 hours per class with a teacher. Students that 15 years of age must complete 25 hours of time in-school per class (not an option for 14yo students). Scheduled hours will be posted weekly and will vary during this summer based on staff availability.
Format: Students will be assigned classes through our online Plato/Edmentum learning environment. Students must complete the class, pass the class AND have a minimum of 10 hours per class with a teacher. Classes will be delivered through Plato/Edmentum, a digital curriculum. Due to the online nature of the classes students can also work on classes outside of school. Students that do not meet the minimum required 10 hours of school attendance AND pass the class will not receive credit for the class. The in-school requirement for students that are 15 years old is 25 hours per class. Counselors will select and register students for appropriate classes.
Credits: Each class will make up 1 quarter class (0.75 credits). A maximum of three classes are available to be made up for Flex Summer Independent Study.
Food: Food Service is not available during summer. Vending is available at Bridges ALC.
Transportation: Students will need to secure their own transportation. No transportation will be provided. There are no parking fees at Bridges ALC.
What is the difference to Structured Summer School? Structured Summer school is a shorter session and has required daily attendance at Bridges.
